I offer mental health services in an outpatient private practice setting for adults in the South Bay area of Los Angeles.
Depression can cause people to feel down for extended periods. They lose interest in activities that they once found pleasurable. They may feel tired all the time, discouraged about the future, and have trouble concentrating and sleeping. Easy tasks may feel impossible making it hard to keep up with life's demands.
Grief and Loss are not limited to the death of a loved one. They can arise with an illness or chronic pain, or even while adapting to healthy life transitions like becoming a parent or retiring from a career. Recognizing grief and navigating the grieving process is an important part of moving forward.
Stress and anxiety can lead to feelings of restlessness and dread that can range in severity from rigidity and excessive worry to full blown panic attacks. Anxiety often includes physical symptoms like a racing heart and shortness of breath.
Trauma can leave a lasting impression. Symptoms after a trauma can include nightmares, intrusive thoughts and images, feeling on edge and irritable, and avoiding people, places or activities that could be reminders of what happened.
Anger and mood swings make it difficult to maintain relationships and difficult to bounce back after a negative experience. Anger and mood swings are often symptoms of underlying depression or anxiety.
Relationship and Sexual Issues are easily neglected amidst our busy lives. Couples often struggle to communicate effectively, allowing misunderstandings and resentment to build. Common concerns include resolving conflict, growing apart, differences in parenting, and lack of intimacy.
